Top Coats

The final layer of finish is one of the most critical - It's the layer we first see, as well as the one we touch, so it must be perfect!

In this course we'll examine the various top coats that are available to woodworkers, including paints;  we'll discuss their pros and cons, adjusting them, as well as various application methods.  Students will learn how to make their own finishes, including wipe on polyurethane and Danish oil type finishes. We'll wrap things up by covering post finishing techniques including rubbing out finishes to achieve a silky smooth finish!  This is a hands on class, where you'll put the theory you learn into practice!

Water Based Finishing

Routers can be used to produce a wide array of joinery in the shop, in record speed.  During this hands on workshop, we'll look at different methods to create joints such as Mortise & Tennon, Half Laps, and of course Dovetails.
